Come and 'experience' a Seaplane Expedition Adventure at The Mawson Centre.
As reported on this Community Website, six seaplanes - which took off from Parafield Airport - participated in an expedition from Adelaide to Perth across the Great Australian Bight in January 2010. Expedition Leader and Mawson Lakes resident, Ross Vining, will share details of the adventure with you in his illustrated talk on the expedition at The Mawson Centre on Thursday, 18 February at 8pm.
Ross, an inspirational speaker, who flew his SeaRey (a two seater, single engine amphibian that he built himself) on the 3000km journey, including a stretch of nearly 2000km of coastline between Ceduna and Albany offering dramatic and varied coastal landscapes across land which is unaccessible by road.
The expedition party consisted of four Seareys and two Lake Amphibian planes. Highlights of the talk will include: dramatic cliffs of the Great Australian Bight, picturesque landscapes around Port Lincoln, estuarine waterways of the Eyre Peninsula, islands of the Archipelago of the Recherche (WA), splash downs in reef protected oceanponds, headlands and inlets of the South West Corner (WA) and the Skyworks Airshow on the Swan River at the conclusion of the expedition.
This is a FREE community event, but bookings are required to Annie Payne on Tel: 8302 5449 or apayne@salisbury.sa.gov.au
